Initial Layout Geometry
A pink creature with hot pink stripes, lime markings and a navy-eyed mask sits on a purple background with dark purple shadows and lime leaf shapes. A chain of gray metal beads outlines its head, back and tail, and a cyan block marked 40 sits on its forehead. The supply has three columns topped by purple 50, pink 20 and navy 20, with question-mark bobbins under the outer two.
Goal / Target Area
Thin the purple and dark purple background first, cut the metal chain with metal bobbins, wear the cyan block down to 0, then finish the head and tail islands.
Opening Moves
Purple 50 from the left column, then the purple 20 that comes up under it and the dark purple 40 below that, then navy 20 from the right column and the next navy 20, followed by purple 50 and the pink 20s.
Danger Zone
The middle stretch keeps the track full while pink, hot pink and navy remainders circle. Adding more then only parks pieces, so wait for a bobbin to run out first.
Unique Mechanics
Question-mark bobbins reveal their color when they reach the top of a column. The gray bead chain is metal knit, and only marbled metal bobbins clear it. The cyan block on the forehead shows how many cyan stitches remain and vanishes at 0.

Storage: the five slots where returning bobbins park until their color is reachable again.

Quick Tips for Level 871

  • Only metal bobbins touch the gray bead chain; save the metal 40 and the metal 10s for when a stretch of chain faces open board.
  • Watch the number on the cyan forehead block; it tells you how much cyan is still needed.
  • Expect the left column to bring up purple 20 and dark purple 40 right after the first purple 50, and its question marks to turn into hot pink 40 and metal 40 later; plan for each color.

How to Solve Yarn Loop Level 871 — Full Solution

  1. Send the purple 50 at the top of the left supply column into the large purple background, which faces the track on every side. A purple 20 comes up under it. Send that next, then the dark purple 40 below it, which starts on the dark purple shadow shapes around the leaves and the lower body.
  2. Send the navy 20 at the top of the right column, then the navy 20 that rises in the left column. Navy takes the navy eye band across the creature's mask and the darkest patches of the background. Park a small navy leftover (15 or 8) if nothing navy is facing the track.
  3. Send the next purple 50 and the pink 20s. The second question mark in the left column turns into a hot pink 40. Pink works the pale body, and hot pink starts on the bright stripes once the purple around them thins.
  4. A chain of gray metal beads loops around the creature's head, back and tail. Only the marbled metal bobbins remove those beads: a metal 40 from a question mark in the left column first, then metal 10s later. Send each metal bobbin when a stretch of chain faces open board. Its leftovers come back in the 20s and teens.
  5. The cyan block marked 40 on the creature's forehead counts the cyan stitches still needed. Each cyan 20 or 10 that passes lowers the number. Keep cycling cyan whenever it is free, because the block lasts until late in the level.
  6. Send green 30 into the lime leaves on the purple background and the lime marks along the tail. Green returns small, so recycle it as each leaf group becomes reachable.
  7. Through the middle of the level the track often sits full with pink, hot pink and navy remainders circling. Wait for one to run out before you add another bobbin. Storage holds a few leftovers at a time here, such as purple 2, pink 10, cyan 10 or a metal 26, and never comes close to full.
  8. Keep feeding the pink 20s and the hot pink 30 and 40s into the body and stripes, and the next metal bobbins into the chain. When the last question mark in the right column opens, the column brings up purple 40 and 50, metal 10, green 30 and a dark purple 30.
  9. Keep sending cyan, including the parked cyan 10, until the forehead block counts down to 0 and disappears. The picture then splits into an upper island (mask and head) and a lower island (tail).
  10. Clear both islands with the hot pink 40 and metal 10 from supply plus the small remainders: metal 5 and 1 on the last chain beads, green 2 on the tail marks, pink 1 on the stripe ends, and purple 4 and 2 on the purple scraps.
  11. Send the last supply bobbin, dark purple 30, into the final dark purple pixels at the top of the head.

Colors in this level:

Purple, Dark purple, Navy, Pink, Hot pink, Green, Cyan, Gray metal

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Sending pink or purple at the chain beads; only the metal bobbins remove them.
  • Assuming the cyan block is cleared after one cyan bobbin. It starts at 40 and needs several passes.
  • Stopping when two small islands are left; the hot pink 40, metal 10, small remainders and the last dark purple 30 are still needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the cyan 40 block in Level 871?

It is a counter on the creature's forehead. Each cyan bobbin that passes lowers it, and it disappears when it reaches 0.

  • How do I remove the gray bead chain?

Send the marbled metal bobbins (the metal 40, the metal 10s and their leftovers). They are the only bobbins that take the chain beads.

  • When should I send another bobbin while the track is full in Level 871?

Through the middle of the level the track often sits full while pink, hot pink and navy remainders circle. Wait for one of them to run out before adding another bobbin, because sending more then only parks pieces in storage.
